Last terms self imposed tasks

My self imposed tasks for last term started off on the right path for the first 2 weeks, where I identified events from N.Ireland’s recent history that I wanted to see archive footage from, and hopefully be able to use in my work. I have contacted the BBC in Belfast and now need to get a small package off to them describing what I want and what I’m doing. Over this period I also ordered “Rethinking Northern Ireland”, a book by David Miller (Glasgow University Media Group) that contains collected essays on N.Ireland discussing Culture, Ideology, Colonialism and the media. This took to after xmas to come so I only read the introduction and first essay, but already it feels like a refreshing outlook on the country. I have continued to dip in and out of the growing number of new media of books I now own. I didn’t get very far with learning Dreamweaver and starting to design my web page. I would like to get going on this soon as it might become an essential part of my work.
Along with research into N.Ireland events that I want to work with I have continued to trawl through the Prelenger Archives http://www.archive.org/movies/prelinger.php , and the BBC web page On This Day http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/default.stm
Over the last six weeks I have been doing too much thinking about how my work might finally look, and feel it is essential to start creating more!
